About Me

This is why we're all here, isn't it?

ABOUT ME

Here is the half-thoughtful answer to a frequently-thought-but-not-so-often-asked question that I know will come to you as you read these. It may come to you as a recurring question, or what you mutter to yourself as you roll your eyes and wonder why you’re still reading after what you just read. Chance are, if you’re like those who already know me, one of these days, you’ll ask yourself

“Where does he come up with this stuff?!”

Luckily for you, I’ve thought about it for 2.2 seconds, and the really easy but truthful answer is: I have no idea.

Honestly, I just think of a few lines here and there based on a random thought, a newsstory, a question or comment from a friend, or something a person did that reminds me of something more general.

A guy slips and falls on the pavement late at night in an empty parking lot. That reminds me of the times I’ve done something embarrassing even though I felt certain no one but me saw it. That I was still embarrassed about it days after–or right now, as I recall it many months later– is some kind of phenomenon that also mostly likely has some highly-technical psychological term that I’ve long-since forgotten. And as I’m thinking of it, I ask myself “Does anyone else have moments like these?” Then it becomes 500 words. Just like that.

For example, the thought I had most recently (on September 2, 2011, by the way), was “How’d I not realize before an hour or so ago that Geoffrey Rush in The King’s Speech is the same Geoffrey Rush in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies?!” That became this.

Before that, a friend asking me if I’m a beer snob lead to me describe in my mind (beyond just a working definition) what a snob is. That became this.

And so on. The saga continues.

M.

I blame your active imagination and ability to string an interesting sentence.
All of it. I like all of it.

I really wish I could come up with a post as often as you can.

I mean, dude! I blog only once to twice a month.

    I suck.

    But I’m awesome still. Haha!

I’m forcing myself, actually. It’s not so bad now, because I just resumed blogging after not doing it for months, but I know that if I stop for too long, I’ll just stop altogether. It’s like going to a gym after the fun of doing it over. It needs to be a habit. One thing that always held me back was judging my ideas without trying to write them out and then seeing what happens.

I’m sure you have enough ideas to write more often. 🙂
